Why We Chose Our Gift Categories: For Him, For Her, Teens & Kids 🎁

At lowkey.co.nz, we're all about making gift-giving easy, fun, and actually exciting (no more socks and candles — unless they’re really cool socks and candles). When it came to designing our site, one of the first big decisions was how to organize all the awesome stuff we stock. After a lot of thought, we landed on four main categories: For Him, For Her, Teens, and Kids. Here's why we chose to keep it this way:
1. Simplicity is Key 🔑
Let’s be real — most people shopping for gifts are in a rush, slightly stressed, or unsure of what to buy. By organizing gifts into broad, familiar categories, we make it super easy to jump straight into the stuff that fits who you’re buying for. No scrolling through endless lists or guessing what might work.
2. Real-Life Gifting Habits
When you’re buying a gift, you’re usually thinking in terms of who it’s for — not what it is. “I need something for my boyfriend,” or “What do I get my niece for her birthday?” That’s where For Him, For Her, Teens, and Kids just make sense. It mirrors how people naturally shop.
3. Teens Deserve Their Own Space 🙌
Teenagers are their own vibe. They're not quite adults, but definitely not kids either. Their taste is unique (and let’s be honest, sometimes tricky to shop for), so we gave them a space that feels curated just for them — cool, current, and not cringe.
4. Kids Are a Whole Different Party 🎈
Gifting for kids is its own world. Toys, games, cute stuff, educational stuff — we didn’t want those gems to get lost in the mix. The Kids section makes it super easy to find age-appropriate, fun-as gifts for little legends.
5. Inclusivity With Flexibility
We totally get that not everyone fits perfectly into a category — and that’s okay! Our categories are just a starting point. If you’re browsing the For Her section and find the perfect gift for your mate in there, go for it! Labels don’t matter — it’s all about finding the gift that feels right. 💜
